What ±0.05 mm / ±0.1 mm Means on a Vision Labeler — and How to Accept It

Why ±mm claims need measurement conditions, and how to run sample acceptance before RFQ on a vision labeler.

Three things people mean by “accuracy”

Plain language—ask which one your drawing cares about:

  1. Mechanical / station geometry — how well axes, fixtures, and peel paths repeat when the part is already where you expect. Useful for hard nests; weak when the board floats in a tray.
  2. Vision locate — how well the camera finds a feature (edge, pad, hole, silk) and reports offset. Lighting, contrast, feature quality, and FOV dominate this number.
  3. Placement result on the part — where the label or film actually lands relative to the target after peel, press, and any conveyor motion. This is usually what QE wants in acceptance—and it stacks locate error, motion, material behavior, and measurement method.## Why a single ± number is weak without conditions

The same station can look “±0.1” in one trial and miss a tighter drawing in another. Conditions that move the result:

Not on the live PDPs reviewed for this article. Those pages emphasize heads, catalogue rates with sample-validation disclaimers, and proposal-based final scope. Do not treat competitor or market ± language as Anjelio’s published spec.

So when market copy mentions ±0.05 mm or ±0.1 mm, read it as a claim class under stated conditions—not as a portable guarantee for every PCB, housing, or film.

A brochure ± that does not say which of the three it is will not survive a serious RFQ review.
