Definition (quote-ready): Two architectures place PCB labels automatically. ALF / PnP label feeder: a feeder in the pick-and-place rack presents auto-apply labels; the PnP nozzle places them like SMDs. Dedicated CCD vision labeler: a separate vision-guided applicator cell finds the feature and places the label. Anjelio builds dedicated vision label application families (VL-*) — not PnP-rack ALF. Which path fits is locked only in a mutually confirmed proposal.
Buyers commonly compare “burn a feeder slot on the PnP” vs “buy a separate labeling cell.” That is market intent framing — not an Anjelio ALF product claim. Anjelio (anjelio.com) supplies industrial vision label application (brand note).
Two architectures buyers compare
PnP / ALF-style path
A feeder module sits in the pick-and-place feeder rack, presents an auto-apply label to a removal position, and the PnP nozzle picks and places it like a component. This uses existing placement capacity. It is a real architecture buyers use — and a market class, not an Anjelio catalogue item.
Dedicated vision label cell
A separate station whose job is CCD and/or robot-guided label application — not a feeder slot inside the PnP. Vision finds a feature (or taught target); a servo applicator peels and places. Anjelio’s offer lives here (VL-* families).
Do not confuse the two “feeders”
| Object | Machine | What “feeder” means |
|---|---|---|
| PnP-rack ALF | Pick-and-place | Label presented for nozzle pick like an SMD |
| Feeder on VL-SS / VL-DD | Dedicated vision cell | Label material supply for peel + vision place on that cell |
Calling Anjelio’s VL feeders “ALF” or “PnP label feeders” is wrong. Anjelio does not invent Fuji / Juki / ASM / Yamaha rack adapters on this page.
When the ALF / PnP feeder path is often enough (honest)
Lean ALF-adjacent when:
- Feeder slots are free and nozzle time can absorb label places without starving real SMD load
- Label size/format fits auto-apply + feeder constraints; stable pre-print artwork is OK
- Placement can ride the PnP’s existing fiducial / placement workflow for that board
- Extra dedicated-cell footprint, CapEx, and another line handshake are hard to justify
This page does not sell or configure that path for Anjelio — it only acknowledges when buyers often stay on the PnP.
When a dedicated CCD vision label cell is usually the better ask
Lean dedicated vision when:
- Feeder-rack or nozzle-time conflict with the real component program
- Label size, liner, or material sits outside typical PnP-feeder limits; soft / odd labels need dedicated peel and apply
- You need vision on product features or keep-outs beyond “place like a chip,” multi-place patterns, or pose/reach that wants a dedicated applicator (including a robot cell)
- You want print-and-apply, offline / NPI / rework, or a station that must not steal PnP takt
Then choose a dedicated cell, and use I8 for inline vs offline and print-and-apply vs feeder on that cell. Vision labeling basics: I1.
Honest chooser checklist (no fake cycle times)
| Constraint | Lean ALF / PnP path | Lean dedicated vision cell | Confirm with samples |
|---|---|---|---|
| PnP feeder slot free? | Yes | No / costly | Slot plan + program |
| Nozzle time budget for labels? | Comfortable | Tight vs SMD load | Takt study |
| Label footprint vs feeder limits? | Fits auto-apply | Oversized / odd liner | Label samples |
| Variable print at place? | Usually no (pre-print) | Often yes → dedicated + VL-PA path | Data rules in RFQ |
| Feature-based vision / keep-outs? | Fiducial-only may suffice | Product-feature place needed | Drawings + samples |
| Separate station footprint OK? | Prefer not | Want dedicated cell | Layout sketch |
| Reflow timing / material class? | Pointer I16 when live | Same — do not invent material SKUs | Spec + samples |
| Where ID lands on panel? | Pointer I14 | Same | Array map |
No invented s/label races vs ALF. Accuracy language → I6. MES / Mark depth → I7 when confirmed — not invented here.
If you choose dedicated vision — which Anjelio families to look at first
Anjelio is not quoting a PnP ALF module on this page.
| Constraint | First look | Link |
|---|---|---|
| One material, dedicated peel + vision place | VL-SS | VL-SS |
| Two materials in one pass on the cell | VL-DD | VL-DD |
| Dedicated station in existing line flow | VL-EM / VL-TR | VL-EM · VL-TR |
| Variable print + apply at the dedicated station | VL-PA | VL-PA |
| Pose / reach drives dedicated offline / robot cell | VL-4A | VL-4A |
Head-count chooser: I3. Layout + print vs feeder on the cell: I8. Catalogue: /products.
If a VL-SS rate is mentioned: 1200–2000 labels/h, subject to sample validation — not a “beats ALF” or “replaces PnP nozzle time” guarantee. Final configuration — including whether a dedicated cell is justified vs your existing PnP plan — is subject to the mutually confirmed technical proposal and quotation.
What to send so we can propose a dedicated vision plan
- Board / panel drawing + keep-outs
- Label sample, size, and material needs
- PnP brand + slot / takt constraints (why ALF may be hard) — as your plant facts, not as Anjelio adapters
- Print need Y/N
- Preferred dedicated layout (inline / offline — see I8)
- Samples
- Any customer placement / traceability clause (no invented MES fields)
Cross-links only: changeover burden → I12; label vs laser → I10 when live.
